"Civic Club" Foundation has been established in 1998 by: Hanna Suchocka, Leszek Balcerowicz, Miroslaw Czech, Janusz Lewandowski, Aleksander Smolar, Tadeusz Syryjczyk.
Foundation is independent of state and political institutions.
Its main objectives include:
- promoting democratic and civic values
- propagating free market economy concepts
- promoting European integration among Poles
- conducting educational activity in the fields of democracy, human rights, social issues, foreign policy and economy
In 2002 the Civic Club Foundation completed the following projects:five meetings were held as part of the "Direction Europe" Programme: "Ukraine after Elections - Closer to or Further from Europe", "Belarus in Anticipation of Change", "Poland and the Euro - How Soon","Poland and Germany after Enlargement - What Parntership""
In September, the inaguration of the Liberal Academy took place. The foundation also continued the following programmes: "Democracy without womend is a Half- Democracy"
In 2003 the foundation focused on the following projects:
The "Liberal Institute" s-a platform for experts and journalists where they could discuss and devise liberal proposals in the field of social and economic policy
The "Direction Europe" Programme - dissemination of knowledge on EU and devising common solutions regarding Polish foreign policy by academic circles and non - govermental organizations
The "Liberal Academy" - the second edition of the programme took place in August.
The "Democracy without women is a Half - Democracy"- continuation
The "I Remember" Programme - the inauguration conference took place in October 2003. Currently the programme is carried out in secondary schools in Warsaw, Krakow and Kielce
